Watch the entire production process of the Porsche Taycan at the German factory

Porsche Taycan’s amazing production process from start to finish is put into an almost half-hour long video from the newly built dedicated facility by the automaker in Zuffenhausen, Germany.

At the time of the Taycan world premiere, Porsche presented a sneak preview of the assembly lines at the production plant, Porsche built a new body shop, paint shop and a dedicated building for producing the electric drivetrain (motors).

Porsche invested around €700 million ($770 m) to build this mega factory which is now in full swing producing Porsche’s first fully-electric production car. The German automaker’s decades of car production experience gives them an edge over their main archrival Tesla (TSLA) which went through a production hell after the launch of Tesla Model 3.

Looking at the Porsche Taycan’s production process at the body shop gives us a glimpse of Elon Musk’s imagination of an Alien Dreadnought, pretty fascinating — I couldn’t stop watching this awestruck when massive robots work with the utmost precision and care.

President and CEO Porsche North America, Klaus Zellmer praised Tesla for their contribution in putting the electric vehicle revolution in the first gear but at the same time described how the Porsche Taycan is different and superior to the Tesla Model S, he said in an interview with Teslarati‘s Sean Mitchell:

Well, I think all car manufactures have taken inspiration from Tesla, because Tesla has been the pioneer. They’ve done something that a couple of years ago, nobody would have expected anybody to be able to do. So we have great respect for them.

[Tesla vehicles] are surely impressive if it’s about acceleration, the user experience, and all the digital stuff in the car. I think the Taycan actually sets itself apart when its about repeatable acceleration, when it’s about the car really behaving like a true sports car when you take it to the limit beyond the limit, and what happens then, how you control the car. So we’ve taken a different route because we are a different brand, but yes, inspiration is something that we all need.

Zellmer also mentioned that currently Porsche is willing to take advantage of the Elctrify America‘s charging network spread across the region, since the Porsche Taycan is capable of DC fast-charging up to 270 kW and Electrify America offers up to 350 kW of charging, range anxiety factor for the Taycan owners should be least of the concerns.

Porsche also released a new Taycan ad named ‘get electrified’ that aims at exciting the electric car enthusiasts that also happen to love the Porsche car brand in buying the electric car that is the closest thing ever to a ‘Tesla Killer’!

Although Porsche started getting pre-orders since the launch in the first week of September but the German automaker has not yet shared the number of bookings they have received from around the globe.

The Taycan project is of vital importance for Porsche as it has already yielded a massive financial investment and the company has pledged to invest billions of euros in coming years for further electification of the lineup.
