New teaser released for Model Y CUV, Tesla’s next big thing

Tesla’s 2018 Shareholder Meeting went through an emotional phase as CEO Elon Musk appeared on stage and said with an almost choked-up voice “At Tesla, we build our cars with love…. We’re not perfect, but we pour our heart and soul into it and we really care” (Elon presentation video below).

That’s how much Elon Musk is dedicated towards the Tesla Mission of sustainability and a better future. At such events Tesla always has something in the bag to create excitement and emotion in the hearts of shareholders, vehicle owners and enthusiasts, this time they had another Tesla Model Y teaser image.

I just had to apply some image enhancements in Photoshop to reveal a little more of the Model Y like the curve lines and some part of the wheel.

The first teaser image of the Model Y was revealed exactly one year ago at the 2017 Tesla Shareholder Meeting, since then it has creating huge amounts of speculation and interest among the Tesla and EV community.

Compact Utility Vehicles (CUVs) are the latest trend in the automotive industry that is penetrating into the EV segment as well and with the launch of Hyundai Kona Electric and Jaguar I-Pace the competition is getting stiff.

Tesla community at large agrees that the Tesla Model Y CUV will be a bigger hit than the Model 3 Compact Sedan which had more than 115,000 reservations before the end of the first unveil event with total reservations reaching around half a million within the 2 year period.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced in the conference call last month that Tesla Model Y will be brought to production as early as 2020 and it will be a manufacturing revolution, Musk also stated that all future Tesla Gigafactories will have incorporate vehicle manufacturing as well—currently Tesla has to ship battery packs from Gigafactory 1 in Nevada to car factory in Fremont, increasing the manufacturing time for Model 3 production.

Tesla has most probably teased the Model Y CUV in their Tesla 2018 promo video released last month but it remains a mystery as there is a difference of opinion about it being a Model Y or a Performance Model 3.

Recently Elon Musk also tweeted that Tesla Model Y will be unveiled on Mar 15th next year in a reply to the question about the unveiling date.

So we should be expecting a Model Y unveil event from this year’s end to March next year, this timeline looks real as another teaser photo has erupted, many Model 3 reservation holders might cancel their spot and opt in for the more exciting and appealing Model Y!
