Jaguar trying to entice Tesla owners with a $3k rebate for buying an I-Pace

Jaguar trying to entice Tesla owners with a $3k discount for buying an I-Pace

Jaguar has come up with a new marketing strategy for boosting its all-electric I-Pace sales, the Britain based automaker is targeting Tesla owners by offering them a lucrative $3,000 discount in addition to an already attractive $5,000 dealer discount and the $7,000 allowance credit bringing the total discount to a lucrative $15,000 and that is excluding the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.

Jaguar is calling this $3k discount, the ‘Tesla Conquest’ incentive, Jaguar is trying to conquer the entire Tesla sales with only one BEV i.e. the I-Pace — very ambitious Jaguar, according to various reports, Jaguar inventory is piling up big time, up to 6 months worth of sales in the United States.

This looks like more of a desperation move instead of a ‘conquest’, we really hope Jaguar does well as it is good for the electric vehicle adoption but there must be a reason for low demand, until the start of this month Jaguar had only sold 1,309 I-Paces in the US, that is barely close to 36 hours of Tesla Model 3 production.

The fine print on the offer reads:

“For an owner or a member of an owner’s household where a Tesla vehicle is currently registered (proof of ownership/registration is required). Limit one incentive per eligible VIN. Can be used towards the lease or purchase of a new, unused 2019 I-Pace. No trade-in required. Not redeemable for cash. Incentive paid to dealer and requires dealer participation.”

Getting experienced Tesla owners to test a Jaguar I-Pace can have a reverse impact on Jaguar sales if they don’t find the product as good or better as a Tesla e.g. recently a YouTuber ‘Tesla & Chill’ went to a Jaguar dealership for the test drive of an I-Pace, the next review video was not so encouraging, the test drive had a negative impact deepening the damage.

Additionally Tesla Sentry Mode caught the Jaguar salesmen checking out the YouTuber’s Model 3 and discussing something among themselves, perhaps they were talking about what Jaguar needs to do in order to compete in the EV space, but Teslas have no ears, so we cannot be 100% sure.

The following video shows how a Tesla owner of a few months thinks of the Jaguar I-Pace, is it better than a Tesla or not? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
