Tesla Model S autonomous robotaxi funny sketch video in Spanish with English subtitles.

Tesla’s autonomous ‘Robotaxi’ imagined in a funny skit (video)

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has a near-future vision of an autonomous taxi network and each Tesla car of that network will be called a ‘Robotaxi’, he presented this idea at the 2019 Tesla Autonomy Day and the debate has heated up on the odds of it becoming a reality — however the Spanish José Mota’s show depicted it in a funny sketch.

This hilarious short video shows two bank robbers escaping a heist and one of the thugs has hired a fully autonomous Tesla Model S Robotaxi just because the other one had asked him to get the ‘most modern’ car to flee the scene.

The unknowing partner in crime is surprised why the other one has not taken the driver’s seat, he comes to know that this is a fully self-driving car that is intended to help them but since the car’s AI is very advanced it senses that these guys have done something wrong and it threatens them by saying it will drive them to jail.

What happens later is even more amusing, when one of the thugs gets out of the Robotaxi in frustration, the car runs away with the one bandit left and starts negotiating the terms of splitting the loot, oops!

The video is in Spanish language but when I asked Omar Jimenez (owner of the shown Model S) to provide English subtitles and post it to YouTube, he was kind enough to fulfill my requests, let’s watch and laugh.

* Don’t forget to turn on the English subtitles by pressing the CC button on the video above.

The autonomous Robotaxi interface we see in the video above is the sole imagination of the team who created the video, the interface looks like it has been inspired by the classic Blade Runner movie, which inspires Elon Musk as well.

In the first phase of deploying the Robotaxi network, Tesla plans to use the leased Model 3s for the purpose when the lease term is over, as all the Tesla vechicles built today including the near future Model Y and Next-gen Roadster will have the hardware and the Tesla Supercomputer required for full autonomy.

The scenarios are changing fast and the Robotaxi might become a reality sooner than we expect but later than what Elon Musk expects (2020) but it has to happen ultimately, interesting times to being part of the human race.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below on how fast Tesla can realize the dream of the Robotaxi network that would disrupt the ride-sharing industry, especially Uber.

Pretty sure you meant to say the interface was inspired by Knight Rider – here is a reference photo: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kitcowan/730767138
