China shows an insatiable demand for Tesla Model 3 and Model X post-tax break

Tesla Model 3 and Model X demand is skyrocketing in China, especially since the Chinese government gave a 10% car purchase tax exemption to Tesla last month — a sign of agressive electric vehicle adoption policy by China.

There are several reports coming out of Beijing and Shanghai about massive amounts of deliveries happening from the Chinese Tesla stores, as we can see in the above featured image, a large number of Tesla Model 3 and some Model S and X are outside the Beijing Department of Motor Vehicles for obtaining their license plates.

Jay also posted a short video from outside the Beijing DMV that shows the massive line of Model 3s waiting in line to get their registrations.

While Chao Zhou who is constantly updating the Tesla community about the Gigafactory 3 developments by reporting directly from the ground, recently visited the Tesla Shanghai Jinqiao Store and the numbers of Model 3 sales he has sourced from the location are nothing short of astonishing.

According to Chao’s meeting with the Tesla staff at the Jinqiao Store, a massive surge in Tesla Model 3 orders has occurred post-tax exemption, doing the math of it all, the Jinqiao Tesla Store alone is expected to accumulate 3,000 orders by the end of this month.

Tesla (TSLA) China will be able able to deliver these cars by the end of next month, so a huge sales number increase will occur in Tesla’s Q4 delivery report.

Above is the most recent picture of the Tesla Beijing Delivery Center (shared by Vincent) — a large numbers of Tesla Model Xs in-line for the delivery, a beautiful sight and a proof of the popularity of Model X in China, even Elon Musk used a Model X convoy on his Shanghai visit last month.

According to Reuters, the 10% tax exemption drops the purchase price of the Tesla cars by up to 99,000 yuan ($13,957.82) — the big discount is attracting a lot of attention from the Chinese car consumers in search of a reliable premium electric car.

Tesla China website states that the max tax break obtainable on a Model 3 is ¥52,000 ($7,345), this is obviously on the highest variant i.e. Model 3 Performance, the website has a Tesla tax incentive info page covering the policy details by every Chinese region.

Gigafactory 3 development, on the other hand, is in ludicrous mode, the Tesla Model 3 assembly lines are already in place and the other parts of the huge complex are also nearing completion, in the coming months Tesla China customers will be able to get their Model 3s delivered faster from the Chinese production facility.

This is great news for EV adoption because China is the single largest auto market in the world! Bigger than the US and bigger than Europe!

This article is plain baloney. Most EV’s sold in China are $20K or below. Tesla only sold 13K vehicles there in 9 months. The Chinese don’t want Teslas. Even if they did they can’t afford $45K to buy one. This article is paid advertising for Tesla.
