Tesla Model Y teaser image filled by enthusiast, nice try!
Excitement among Tesla enthusiasts and potential Model Y customers is increasing with every passing day since the Silicon Valley-based automaker is all set to reveal their smaller electric SUV on Thursday.
Tesla recently released a new teaser image of the Model Y since then the Tesla enthusiast community is trying to reveal more from the obscured picture, but all you find when lighting it up is ‘Nice Try’ written on the number plate.
Even Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) a super famous YouTuber tried to unveil some more stuff from the pic, but all he got was the easter-egg, he posted his experience in a short video on Twitter that has received more than 3.3 million views and a quarter million likes by now.
Now a Reddit user ‘u/SushiBallZ‘ wanted to give it another shot and take things to the next level, he filled up the Model Y teaser image with colors and missing pieces of the headlights, and we get the best render of the car produced yet.
Although this new render takes borrows a lot from Tesla Model 3, but in reality, Elon Musk and Tesla have confirmed that Model Y will be built on the Model 3 platform and will have at least 75% same parts used in the Model 3.
I posted his render below along with another version that I increased the contrast/brightness levels to see what more could be revealed, tell me in the comments section below it was a ‘nice try’ or not!

Tesla is clear on what are the most important projects for them for the year 2019, the company informed the investors on what and where they will be spending the available capital this year, the automaker announced the following in their Q4, 2018 update letter:
Our 2019 capex, the vast majority of which will be to grow our capacity and develop new vehicles, is expected to be about $2.5 billion. We believe this amount should be sufficient to continue to develop our main projects, such as Gigafactory Shanghai, Model Y and Tesla Semi, as well as for the further expansion of our Supercharger, service and retail networks. We expect to arrange financing through local banks in China to fund most of the capex for Gigafactory Shanghai.
Since Model Y will be built on the Model 3 platform and is designed to share about 75% of its components with Model 3, the cost of the Model Y production line should be substantially lower than the Model 3 line in Fremont, and the production ramp should also be faster.
Tesla also announced the clear timeline of Tesla Model Y’s volume production which will eventually happen at the Gigafactory 1 in Nevada which is currently used for mass production of the battery cells and battery packs, they stated in the letter:
Additionally, this year we will start tooling for Model Y to achieve volume production by the end of 2020, most likely at Gigafactory 1.
