Ford asks for F-150 vs. Cybertruck rematch, Elon says ‘Bring it on’

Tesla Cybertruck vs. Ford F-150 tug-of-war.

The rivalry started with the Tesla Cybertruck unveil when Elon Musk showed the Cybertruck pulling America’s favorite pickup truck, the Ford F-150 uphill in a tug-of-war. Later on, Tesla CEO also shared this short video clip on his twitter account, now Ford engineers needed to respond.

A Ford Vice President Sunny Madra tried to motivate Elon Musk for a rematch against the F-150, saying that Ford will do an ‘apples to apples’ comparison test — what? Like Tesla’s test was somehow unfair to the Ford ICE Pickup Truck, actually, it was unfair for the Cybertuck to tow the F-150 uphill.

However, shortly after Elon Musk accepted Ford’s challenge open-heartedly, a senior Ford spokesperson told InsideEVs.com that this challenge was not to be taken seriously, Madra’s intimidation was only to point out the ‘absurdity of Tesla’s tow video’.

Looks like Ford is not yet ready or even willing to do this rematch, deep down in their hearts they know they cannot win against the electric powertrain, generating instantaneous torque and acceleration, all they are coming up with are excuses.

The Cybertruck prototype Tesla has shown at the unveiling and gave test rides in, is the Dual-Motor AWD variant which goes from 0-60 mph in <4.5 s and the Ford F-150 Raptor Supercrew has does it in around 5.5 s — also the towing capacity for both on the spec sheet is listed as 10,000 lbs vs. 8,000 lbs respectively, why would Ford ever want to contest in front of millions of audience on the internet.

If Ford actually decides to do it somewhere down the road, it will be pretty interesting to watch, very interesting.
