A few aerial photos of the Port of San Francisco Pier 80 have emerged online, showing thousands of Tesla Model 3s waiting to embark on a ship to Europe and the UK, according to various sources most of these cars are Right-Hand-Drive Model 3s, so a bunch of them might be for Australia as well.
Simon Williams, a member of the Tesla Owners UK group had a chance to fly over SF Port’s Pier 80 recently, he availed this opportunity to take a few great aerial shots of the location from the helicopter he was traveling in.
Just last week, we reported that the demand of the RHD Tesla Model 3 is only shooting up and it is further accelerating due to the deliveries expected in Australia and New Zealand later this month, several Model 3 reservation holders from both of these countries are reporting that they have gotten the delivery confirmation SMS/Email from Tesla.
An active Tesla community member who goes by the name of Troy Teslike on Twitter did the actual hard work and tried to count the Tesla Model 3s seen in the above pictures, he found out that there are around ~3,680 Model 3s at the Pier 80 at the time of taking these photos.
The hike in RHD Model 3 VIN registrations lately must be linked to heightened demand in the UK, Australia and New Zealand followed next by Hong Kong and Japan where deliveries are expected by end of Q3 and Q4 respectively.
Hong Kong and Japan might not be the larger RHD markets but the population of these countries is rich and progressive, they will certainly prefer a new emissions-free and technologically advanced mode of transportation over the legacy.
Last but not the least, the ‘White’ color seems to be very much in demand as most of these Model 3s are white, just last month Tesla changed their ‘standard’ color from Solid Black to ‘Pearl White Multi-Coat’ — seems like a favor to the customers, offering a premium color included in the cost of the vehicle.
