Drag Race: Jaguar I-Pace vs Tesla Model X 100D vs Tesla Model X P100D

World’s quietest drag race: Jaguar I-Pace vs Tesla Model X 100D & P100D

When was the last time you experienced silence during a 1/4 mile at the drag strip where 500 hp+ cars are racing to claim the top spot? Most probably never — but times are changing now, Carwow UK put the latest and greatest electric SUVs against each other.

Jaguar I-Pace vs Tesla Model X 100D vs Tesla Model X P100D sounds pretty interesting and yes it is — instant torque is a ‘signature’ move of the electric cars and with compelling 0-60 mph numbers all three of the competing EVs are tough competitors.

Carwow intelligently took three tests for a deeper comparison of the three electric powerhouses — standing 1/4 mile drag, rolling race from 50 mph and a brake test at 70 mph.

Deep Dive: Jaguar I-Pace vs Tesla Model X spec to spec detailed comparison (all variants)

The 1/4 mile drag race was of-course won by the Model X P100D enabled with Tesla‘s proprietary launch control ‘Ludicrous Mode‘, completing the race in just 11.4 seconds followed by the Jaguar I-Pace’s 12.8 seconds and the Model X 100D finishing last at 13.2 seconds.

Before watching the race and brake distance test let’s look at all three vehicles performance stats overview in the following table to get an idea of the power and abilities of the competing electric SUVs.

At the launch of the I-Pace, Jaguar promoted their electric SUV by releasing a video where they self-tested it against a Tesla Model X 75D and a 100D and proved that the I-Pace was better at 0-60 and braking distance test then both versions of the Model X.

In this current race and brake test we can see far more independent and unbiased results, no doubt the I-Pace is impressive with it’s performance at the race, specially in the brake test where it performs slightly better than the Model X P100D which is equipped with Tesla’s performance brakes.

This is what Carwow UK had to say about this electric SUV drag race and brake test:

It’s our first all-electric drag race and we’ve crossed the Atlantic to make sure we’ve found the best possible competition for you! Representing the UK we have the Jaguar I-Pace the firm’s first all-electric SUV offering, the I-Pace, whilst we have two competitors from America – the Tesla Model X 100D and the P100D.

Why both? Well, the 100D is close on price and power to the Jaguar I-Pace, but why not have the most powerful Model X there too for comparison? So that’s what we did!

Let’s watch the race and enjoy — bursting with enthusiasm? Feel free to pour out your thoughts in the comments section below.

Jaguar is no longer British. Tata Motors, manufacturer of the world’s cheapest and worst cars, owns Jaguar.

HQ is still in Britain, also the company originally hailed from Britain, yep they’re sold out to Tata (deep pockets) but so is Land Rover, the quality of Land Rovers has also declined? Don’t think so…
