Elon Musk's serious safety concerns at Tesla

Elon Musk being a true leader shows highest concern for employee safety in a recent email, says he will work on production lines himself

Elon Musk’s true leadership colors emanate as he shows his utmost concern for employee safety at the factory specially the on production lines. He sent an email yesterday to ‘everyone’ at Tesla expressing his emotional attachment to his entire team working for the progress of the company and a greener future he has envisioned.

This email was shared by Model 3 Owners club today on twitter, this email shows why Tesla has garnered such success and emotional attachment to the company in 13 years that other companies have failed to achieve in several decades of their existence.

We are quoting the email word by word below, the original screen-shot of the email is also included following the quotes.

To: Everybody;

One more thing I meant to say.

No words can express how much I care about your safety and wellbeing. It breaks my heart when someone is injured building cars and trying their best to make Tesla successful.

Going forward, I have asked that every injury be reported directly to me, without exception. I'm meeting with the safety team every week and would like to meet with every injured person as soon as they are well, so that I can understand from them exactly what we need to do to make it better. I will then go down to the production line and perform the same task that they perform.

This is what all managers at Tesla should do as a matter of course. At Tesla we lead from the front line not from some safe and comfortable ivory tower. Managers must always put their team's safety above their own.

Leading from the front requires courage, passion and ‘putting other’s safety and interest before yours’ and Elon Musk has demonstrated it practically and through his words in this email.

Tesla Inc. also posted a press-release to their blog last month ‘Creating the Safest Car Factory in the World‘ after United Automobile Workers (UAW) allegedly pushed a media campaign in order to raise questions about the safety conditions at the Tesla factory.

This only happens when the leaders know ‘why’ they are doing ‘what’ they are doing, this whole philosophy can be understood by Simon Sinek’s following talk at the 99u ‘Why Leaders Eat Last’.
