Boring Company's high-speed tunnel pods

Boring Company’s tunnel launch will include modded autonomous cars

Elon Musk’s Boring Company will now hold the launch event of its first test tunnel on 18th December pushed a week forward from the previous date. Elon Musk announced the new date on Twitter yesterday with some interesting new revelations, he said:

Boring Company product launch on Dec 18. More than a tunnel opening. Will include modded but fully road legal autonomous transport cars & ground to tunnel car elevators (source).

This brings up some new bits and pieces of information to the table, we have already seen the tunnel car elevators in Boring Company’s 3D demonstration videos before (see below) but ‘modded autonomous road legal cars’, this is something worth looking at the launch ceremony.

Elon Musk’s tunnel boring company showed some passenger carrying futuristic-looking electric pods in a couple of videos before (like the picture above), maybe the team was able to build a prototype autonomous vehicle from these concepts by modifying an existing van or vehicle with the help of Tesla.

Previously Elon Musk showed a Tesla Model S being taken down the tunnel by a car elevator but after his deletion of the personal and Tesla pages from Facebook, Elon Musk, later on, deleted his Instagram account as well, resulting in the removal of several important videos related to the Boring Company.

Also last year Elon Musk posted the video of a prototype electric sled taking us inside his first test tunnel under Los Angeles with the speeds of up to 125 mph or 200 km/h.

The Boring Company also plans to run hyperloop pods inside the tunnel in the future that we covered in a detailed article last year.

Tesla and the Boring Company together are working super-hard to solve the problems of traffic congestion and sustainability, other manufacturers with deep pockets should also follow this example and take some of the burdens of global issues by learning from Elon Musk’s vision.

Dec 18 is a big day for Elon Musk and the Boring Company, stay tuned for more updates, pour your thoughts in the comments section below.
